HOW TO BUILD COMMUNITY RIGHT WHERE YOU ARE

MONDAYS WITH MEG W/ BRITTANY SARHAGE: BUILD COMMUNITY.jpg

Having a sense of community has been shown to be linked to so many positives: creating sense of belonging,  providing a physical and mental health boost, and even lowering crime rates within communities. With benefits like these, we could all stand to strengthen our community ties.

Rudy’s Flower Truck is St. Louis' first mobile flower shop. It is a mobile flower shop offering a unique bouquet bar you can find all over St Louis on any given weekend, and it is also available for event rentals. I gifted my bestie Amy two flower deliveries from Rudy’s or her birthday this year… so much fun!

I asked Brittany from Rudy’s Flower Truck why she started this business and she said: “To make flowers more accessible to the community and allow customers to have a unique flower buying experience when they stop by the truck.  By bringing flowers to neighborhoods around St. Louis I hope everyone will take the time to stop and smell the roses, make new friends -and then take some flowers home, of course.”

Here are a few of the things Brittany and I talked about today as we discussed BUILDING COMMUNITY:

  • What community is means to Brittany personally and as a business owner.

  • Why is building community important?

  • What are the biggest challenges with building community both personally and in business?

  • How do flowers help build community?
